The New Orleans Saints take on the Denver Broncos in a Sunday showdown this weekend. For New Orleans, they miss quarterback Drew Brees due to injury. But have a good deputy in Taysom Hill. Whereas, the Denver Broncos have no available quarterbacks for the game.

NFL analyst James Palmer gave his preview for the game and noted that deputy quarterback Jeff Driskel was put in the COVID reserves.

He said, “Broncos veteran safety Kareem Jackson said this week that it is so difficult to deal with a dual-threat quarterback because you cannot mimic their skillset during the week.

Palmer noted that Taysom Hill was a pass-first quarterback, even during a scramble. “Now Hill also said this week when talking to the media that when you’re an athletic quarterback, everyone just assumes when things break down that you’re going to use your legs. He insisted that he continues to look downfield and use his eyes.”

“Which was an athletic quarterback that used his legs to get outside of the pocket, and make big plays downfield.”

Palmer revealed that in his first start as quarterback, Hill asked all the wide receivers to continue moving downfield so he could continue to provide for them.

“That’s more of the quarterback he would like to be. To the extent of before the Falcons game in his first start, he went to each and every wide receiver and told them, ‘When things break down and I scramble around, keep working for me. I’m trying to throw the football downfield’.”

It will be interesting to see how the Broncos cope in the absence of their quarterback. It will be a challenge for the Broncos, especially against an offensively solid Saints team.

The Broncos have been scrambling through their roster to find a suitable replacement. However, they will not find a natural quarterback replacement and will have to soldier through.
