It’s been two weeks since the 2020 NFL season began and teams are slowly adjusting to the idea of playing week-in and week-out. Week Three will see NFL big boys, New England Patriots, host the in-form Las Vegas Raiders at the Gillette Stadium on Sunday.

The Patriots suffered a 35-30 loss against Seattle Seahawks last weekend. They will be eager to bounce back with a strong performance against the Raiders on home turf. Meanwhile, Jon Gruden’s boys remain unbeaten in the league. They defeated the New Orleans Saints in Nevada earlier this week, which was the major upset from Week Two.

Here’s a detailed look at both teams, along with injury updates and Week Three matchday predictions.

New England Patriots aiming to bounce back after last weekend’s loss

Bill Belichick’s New England Patriots start Week Three as favorites to seal a win in Boston. Cam Newton has enjoyed a seamless transition with his new team over the last few weeks. He’s struck up a strong partnership with WR’s Julian Edelman, N’Keal Harry, and Damiere Byrd. The Pats are sweating on the fitness of both Edelman and Harry heading into Sunday’s encounter.

Coach Belichick will need both his star wideouts to step up for their clash against the Raiders. Defensive stars Stephen Gilmore, Jonathan Jones, and the McCourty brothers will have a busy night against Derek Carr’s offense.

The Raiders will be flying high after the win over New Orleans Saints on Monday night. However, that win came with some major consequences. Head Coach Jon Gruden will have to wait and see if star tight end, Darren Waller, can make the starting line-up. RB Josh Jacobs is also listed as ‘questionable’ for tonight’s game, while Henry Rugs III is still out with a hamstring issue.

Quarterback Derek Carr has a tough task on his hands, especially if he can’t count upon Waller and Jacobs. Jalen Richard, Hunter Renfrow, and Bryan Edwards will have to step up against the Patriots. Meanwhile, Gruden will need his defensive team to restrict Cam Newton as much as possible.

We’re going with the Cam Newton-led New England Patriots for this one. The Boston-based NFL outfit has done well so far this season, despite the exit of the legendary Tom Brady. Cam Newton has shown flashes of brilliance early on in the season. If he stays fit, he can lead the Patriots to the Playoffs this year.

The Raiders, on the other hand, are the surprise package of the season. They remain unbeaten after two games. However, with their injury pile up, we predict they will suffer their first loss of the season at the hands of the Patriots. Unless, of course, Derek Carr goes on a scoring rampage once again.
