NFL Veteran Gives Damning Verdict on Colin Kaepernick’s Return to the League: “Those Owners… Once They Make Their Minds Up… It Doesn’t Happen”

The demoralizing wait of former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is a surprising situation for any NFL fan. Kaepernick continues to remain devoid of his opportunity to once again don an NFL jersey in 2022. While fans keep wondering about the reasons, Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon recently gave them a bitter pill to swallow.
While talking in an interview with TMZ Sports about Kaepernick, Moon states, “I just don’t know if he’s going to get that opportunity. I just don’t think the NFL wants that subject back into the league… Just thinking off the top of my head, those owners, they have a very close-knit unit, and once they make their minds up that they don’t want to do something, it doesn’t happen.”

It is a damning statement from the former 9-time Pro Bowler about the inner workings of the NFL ownership system. Despite his harsh truth, the former Houston Oilers QB sympathizes with Kaepernick. He lauds all his attempts to play football at the highest level. Moon adds that he is still a great athlete, but fans’ hopes of seeing the QB back are fading away.
Why the Colin Kaepernick situation seems to not be heading for a happy ending
The comments from Moon come following Kaepernick attending a training session with the New Orleans Saints. While fans continue to harbor hope for the former Niners QB, Moon’s case is gaining acceptance every passing week. Kaepernick hasn’t been part of the league since the 2016 NFL campaign. He left the league after the mutual termination of his contract with the 49ers.

While there has been vocal support from different NFL franchise coaches and executives, nothing concrete has been materialized involving the player.
While questioning his abilities remains a valid concern following his hiatus, certain franchises seem less keen. The 2022 NFL campaign could bring either joy or despair for the once-promising QB.
