January the 2nd, 2023, was probably one of the worst days in the history of the NFL. Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field after a collision and required CPR after. Currently in critical condition, the entire sports world prays for the 24-year-old’s recovery. However, the bad news didn’t end there for the footballing world.

Former Jacksonville Jaguars offensive lineman Uchechukwu Nwaneri passed away yesterday at the mere age of 38. According to the West Lafayette Police and the coroner’s statements, there was no foul play involved. And the former Jag died from a potential heart attack at his wife’s home in West Lafayette. Nwaneri’s wife found him unconscious and called for help.

Furthermore, it devastated fans and former teammates to hear the news of Uche’s passing on the same day as the Damar Hamlin tragedy.

Jacksonville Jaguars owner Tony Khan also paid his condolences on Twitter. The late former guard played seven seasons in the NFL for the Jaguars after playing his collegiate level football at Purdue. Damar Hamlin’s agent Ira Turner had no new updates a few hours ago and pleaded for the prayers of the fans after the cardiac arrest.
