Patrick Mahomes and Peyton Manning have proven that they are a goofy duo. A hovering helicopter flown by a former Cowboys star, and a hilarious faceoff were part of the season finale of the ESPN+ show, ‘Peyton’s Places’. The episode featured Mahomes and Manning competing good-naturedly, alongside a history lesson about Lamar Hunt, the legendary Chiefs owner, who coined the term ‘Super Bowl’.

The duo competed by playing an extreme version of the catch. They bounced a Superball over the statue of Lamar Hunt and even Chiefs head coach Andy Reid. Unlike regular shows with interviews that can get a little mundane, the show brings in elements of absurdity, fun, and a lot of storytelling. But, the biggest question is, who did better with the Superball?

While the duo tried to out beat each other in a throwing contest where the ball was the size of a gold ball, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid did not look impressed with their antics. The scripted show included a hilarious line from the coach. When offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy asked if Mahomes and Manning were teenage pranksters, on the show, he replied, “That’s our franchise quarterback and a 46-year-old retiree.” The camera pans to a triumphant-looking Mahomes and Manning, grinning like they’ve won the Super Bowl together.

Mahomes matched and outdid Manning’s throws. The Hall of Famer was also treated to a classic Mahomes ‘no-look throw’. But the former had something bigger planned. A helicopter flown by three-time Super Bowl champion Chad Hennings with Chiefs Mascot K C Wolf beside him carried a barrel full of Superballs. 10,000 balls were dropped from the air in Arrowhead Stadium’s parking lot. The balls bounced up and down in unison, flooding the lot where Mahomes and Manning stood. This adventurous episode showcased their wholesome and unexpected dynamic.

Mahomes and the Chiefs’ season is on an upward trajectory

Patrick Mahomes is this year’s MVP favorite. Despite his strengths as an individual player, the Chiefs, as a team, have a lot of fine-tuning on their hands. Their bout against the Texans was supposed to be the opposite of an uphill climb. But the Chiefs battled the worst-ranked Houston squad in overtime. Although they managed to slip away with a 30-24 victory, they have their work cut out for them.

At 11-3, the Chiefs successfully clinched the AFC West, thanks to Mahomes’s strategy. The team is set on winning a second Super Bowl title. But their conference has other teams gunning to accomplish the same goals. Josh Allen and Joe Burrow may turn out to be the roadblocks in Mahomes’ otherwise smooth MVP run. The QB already has an 0-3 record versus Burrow. If the Bengals trump the Bills, Burrow could gain a few points in the MVP run if Mahomes falls prey to errors in his next few games. But, an unwaveringly loyal Chiefs Nation will hope that their team and quarterback have nothing but success in their pursuit of winning the title.
