Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals suffered an unfortunate loss to the Los Angeles Rams, losing their claim to the Lombardi Trophy. It was no doubt a high-stakes game, and Burrow left no stones unturned in leading the Bengals to a 20 point run against one of the best defensive lines in the league.
Burrow twisted his right knee on his seventh sack of the evening early in the last quarter. The awkward twist caused Burrow to stay down on the turf before limping off the field. However, he did not opt for medical attention but came back in the huddle, refusing to let go of the game.

The Bengals ended up losing the game after the Rams’ notorious defensive tackle Aaron Donald tackled the young QB denying him a one-yard connect to first down. Burrow was sacked a total number of seven times, creating an unwanted piece of history by becoming the most sacked QB in Super Bowl, tying with Roger Staubach in Super Bowl X.
No surgery required for Joe Burrow
A few tests revealed that Joe Burrow fortunately avoided a serious injury. As per NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, “no surgery is required for Joe Burrow,” and also that the “injury which is believed to be a sprain, is gonna heal with rehab.”

It is a bullet well dodged by the Cincinnati Bengals. Burrow, who suffered a terrible ACL injury in his debut season, took a long time to heal from it completely. Any further injuries to the knee could have proved fatal for the QB’s future with the franchise. However, the star player is believed to recover from the sprain in a couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, the Bengals have to figure out ways to reduce the number of hits on Burrow. The Cincy QB took 70 sacks (51 in the regular season) during his 2021-2022 campaign. These numbers are already alarming for the team since the quarterback is so exposed.
