Russell Wilson burst onto the NFL scene in 2012 with NFC West franchise, Seattle Seahawks. After impressing for the Wisconsin Badgers Football Team, Pete Carroll’s team drafted a young and ambitious Wilson in the 3rd-round (75th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft.

Since then, he has gone on to establish himself as one of the most consistent quarterbacks in the league behind the likes of Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, and Drew Brees.

Playing under the tutelage of coach Carroll, Wilson led the Seahawks to the Super Bowl XLVIII title in 2014, 2 years after arriving in the NFL. This was their first-ever Championship title. However, they have not made the Super Bowl since then.

After a strong start to their 2020 season, the Seahawks suffered a shock 20-30 defeat in the Wild Card Playoff round at the hands of NFC West opponents, the Los Angeles Rams.

Now, recent reports indicate that the 32-year-old is ready to part ways with his current organization in search of Super Bowl glory before hanging up his boots.

Russell Wilson attracting interest ahead of 2021 NFL season

NFL Network reporter and former Sports Illustrated writer Michael Silver revealed that several teams have already made contact with the Seahawks for initial trade talks.

But the NFC West big boys will want ‘at least’ 3 first-round picks in exchange for Wilson. The Super Bowl-winning quarterback is currently on a 4-year contract extension worth north of $150 million, which he signed in 2019.

Russell Wilson finished the 2020 NFL season with 4,200+ passing yards and 40 passing touchdowns against 12 interceptions.

This was his second-straight year throwing for more than 4000 yards (four overall). After a short media tour earlier this year, Wilson is back training at his home base in the build-up to the 2021 NFL season.

It remains unlikely that the veteran quarterback will force through a trade move in the coming weeks. Trading Wilson would result in a $39 million dead cap hit for the Seahawks.
