NFL Slaps $100K Fines on Three Top Coaches for COVID-19 Face Mask Violation

The 2020 NFL season was battling against time a couple of months ago due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Fans were worried that the season would be scrapped or delayed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. However, the league quickly set up daily testing protocols and enforced some strict rules on the players to curb the spread of the virus.

The league had to scrap the entire preseason games schedule. However, the start of the regular NFL season did go ahead as planned. Senior league officials now want ensure that participants don’t take the COVID-19 regulations lightly. On Monday, the NFL announced multiple sanctions for top league coaches for not adhering to COVID-19 guidelines.

NFL insider reveals hefty fines on Kyle Shanahan, Vic Fangio, and Pete Carroll

During the half-time presentation of the Las Vegas Raiders vs New Orleans Saints game, NFL inside man Adam Schefter dropped a massive shocker on national television. Schefter revealed that NFL officials had slammed San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan, Denver Broncos coach Vic Fangio, and Seattle Seahawks Boss Pete Carroll with hefty fines for violating the league’s face-mask policy.

The three coaches were slapped with $100,000 fines for failing to adhere to these rules during their respective Week Two encounters. If that wasn’t punishment enough, the league also slapped the three teams with an additional $250,000 in team sanctions. This shows how serious the NFL is regarding their COVID-19 protocols.

Based on another tweet from Schefter, the league might hand out some more fines after Monday night’s game.

The officials definitely do not want to take any chances with an internal outbreak of the deadly virus amidst the ongoing season. Since the start of the 2020 regular season, there have been zero COVID-19 positive test results across the league.

This is a fact that deserves to be lauded. The huge fines on the three coaches will serve as an example to other members. Hopefully, they don’t get complacent and stick to league protocols until further notice.
