The Green Bay Packers have made a strong start to the season. The Packers are 8-3 this year and 1st in the NFC Northern Conference.
The key to their great season has been Aaron Rodgers. The veteran quarterback is averaging his best pass completion rate since the 2007 season.
Rodgers’ numbers are even better than his 2 MVP years as well. A lifelong Packer, Rodger looks primed to lead Green Bay to the Playoffs once again.

NFL and NBA analyst Jay Williams spoke on ESPN’s KJZ about the Packers. He compared the Packers to another excellent NBA franchise.
He said, “I just feel like they are the San Antonio Spurs of the NFL. All their guys are homegrown. We think about Davante Adams, Aaron Jones, guys that have grown up in the organization.
“Guys that they have drafted in the second round. ‘These are our guys long term’. Very similar to the Spurs.”
He further elaborated on the similarities between the two franchises. While neither the Packers nor San Antonio are flashy teams, they are very successful.
“They’re not a flashy team, with the exception of Aaron Rodgers, who will make a flashy play every once in a while. That’s typically how the Spurs won their championships.”
Green Bay Packers similar to San Antonio Spurs
For Williams, the similarities between the San Antonio Spurs and the Green Bay Packers are remarkable. Neither team is from a big market but are historically successful franchises.

“They have an incredible fan-base, they’re always in the mix. They’re not in a large market. I just feel like they won championships, they have 4 Super Bowls. The San Antonio Spurs have 5 NBA titles.”
Williams noted that the 2 teams are perennially successful. They are always in the mix and considered to be contenders in their respective leagues.
“I just feel like there are so many similar comparisons. And each and every year, they just win. You wonder how they do it…They still find ways to win. It just feels like they are the San Antonio Spurs of the NFL.”
