In a recent conversation on NFL Network, league analyst, Bucky Brooks, gave his opinion on veteran QB, Matthew Stafford. “As long as you have a franchise quarterback, you have a chance. In Matthew Stafford, you have an MVP caliber quarterback.
“Because if you look at the way he was playing prior to his injury under Darrell Bevell (Lions OC), he was playing at an MVP level. Completed 64% of his passes, 19-5 TD to interception ratio, 106 passer rating. So, he was outstanding in that offense,” Brooks said.

Yes, Brooks was absolutely spot on with the stats. Stafford did have a decent 2019 season with the Lions. He threw for 2,499 yards and registered 19 TDs in just eight matches last season.
If he manages to stay fit this year, the Lions could be deadly in NFC North.

A fully-fit Matthew Stafford could be key for unlocking a strong Detroit Lions squad. Brooks is of the opinion that the Lions could very well challenge for a playoff spot if they repeat last year’s initial display.

“When you think about 4-5 new teams making the playoffs each year and I look at this division – Green Bay could come back to the pack, Chicago has issues at quarterback and we don’t know what we’re getting out of Minnesota Vikings. If Detroit Lions can get the 10, the magic number is 10, they absolutely can find their way to the playoffs,” Brooks added.
