NFC South franchise Tampa Bay Buccaneers are currently riding the proverbial ‘wave’. The Pirates made their way to a 5-point win over Aaron Rodgers-led Green Bay Packers on Sunday. The Buccaneers sealed a 26-31 win at Lambeau Field yesterday to win the NFC Championship. Once again, they had six-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady and RB Leonard Fournette to thank.

Brady threw for 280 yards with 3 passing touchdowns. On 12 carries, Fournette had 55 rushing yards with one rushing TD in the NFC Championship finale. The former Jacksonville Jaguars arrived in Tampa Bay in the offseason after he was waived by his former employers. He ended the regular season with 367 rushing yards with 6 rushing TDs.

There were some concerns surrounding Leonard when he arrived in Florida in the summer. But it’s safe to say that the former first-round pick has proved his naysayers wrong in the last 5-off months or so.

Leonard Fournette will make his first Super Bowl appearance in two weeks

Leonard Fournette has arguably been the Buccaneers’ best offensive player (apart from Tom Brady, of course) in this year’s NFL Playoffs. The former Jaguars man was at it again yesterday as he pulled off the above 20-yard rushing TD against the Packers.

Speaking at yesterday’s post-game presser, Leonard said, “It feels good just to be a Buc. (Brady) is a great one. I just thank God every day. I was crying for like 30 minutes — I was on the phone with my mom and my dad just [talking] about my journey. First, in Jacksonville, from me going to jail, from me getting cut — I think it’s a wonderful story how it’s playing out.”

The Buccaneers have a two-week period to recuperate. Bruce Arians’ boys will be the first team in the league’s history to play in a Super Bowl in front of home fans. Tom Brady and company will need some time off after what has been a grueling season thus far. The story’s not over yet as a hungry 43-year-old Brady hunts for his 7th Championship ring.
