Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes endured a tough outing in Super Bowl LV. It was apparent that the Super Bowl LIV MVP was playing with an apparent toe injury. He was limping during the start of the game itself. However, the Buccaneers defense brought their A-game and managed to neutralize any offensive move from the visitors.

Patrick Mahomes could only complete 26 of his 49 attempted passes on Sunday night, throwing for 270 yards. But on a rare note, the Chiefs quarterback failed to throw a single passing touchdown. He did throw 2 interceptions though as the Chiefs succumbed to a 9-31 loss against the Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV.

Despite a poor stat line, Mahomes was the only positive for the Chiefs last night. He gave his all while playing under physical strain but did not get any backing from his offensive teammates like Tyreek Hill, Sammy Watkins, or even Travis Kelce.

But the 25-year old did not want to put the blame on anyone as he lavished praise on Tom Brady and the Bucs for their dominant display in Super Bowl LV.

“I mean, obviously I didn’t play the way I wanted to play. But I mean, what else can you say? All you can do is leave everything you have on the field and I feel like the guys did that. They were the better team today. They beat us. Pretty, pretty good. The worst. I think I’ve been beaten in a long time. But I’m proud of the guys now they fought to the very end of the game,” Mahomes said in the post-game presser.

Mahomes will reportedly undergo surgery on the toe injury in the offseason after battling through the pain over the last one month. Chiefs’ fans will be hopeful that their commander-in-chief will be fit and ready for action when the season starts in 271 days.
