Nick Kyrgios has been disqualified from the Italian Open 2019, on Thursday after the exasperated Australian tossed the chair on to the court. The incident happened when Nick Kyrgios was facing Norway’s Casper Ruud at the second round of the Italian Open 2019.

Nick Kyrgios was given a code of violation earlier in the match. But the 24-year-old was again handed over with a code of violation for his unsporting conduct on the court. The penalty instigated the frustrated Kyrgios as he slammed his racket into the ground. The world no. 36 did not stop there, he kicked the water bottle and then hurled the chair towards the center of the court. The umpire called the match referee to deal with the situation.

He was seen shouting at a spectator,  “F*****g retard bro. Why are you walking across the court as I am serving? You’re not supposed to walk across the court as I’m serving, do you understand that? I’m giving 100 percent. I don’t want to play. Why would I play? I am giving 100 percent to deal with f*****g idiots like him, I’m done. I’m f*****g done. I’m f*****g done with it. I don’t give any f**k.”

The hot-headed Kyrgios then packed his bag and shook hands with Casper Ruud and the umpire before he marched off the court, defaulting himself from the event. The umpire had no choice but to disqualify Nick Kyrgios from the Italian Open 2019.

Ruud won the match 6-3, 6-7, 2-1 to advance in the third round of the Italian Open 2019.

Nick Kyrgios was required to speak to the media after the match but the New York Times writer Ben Rothenberg tweeted, “ATP comms could not catch Kyrgios after the match before he left the site, so, AWOL, he will not be speaking through official channels today.”

Nick Kyrgios is most likely to face an offensive investigation after a violent code of conduct on the court. There is a possibility that Kyrgios could be banned from tennis for a particular period.
