Nick Kyrgios Drops Huge Praise on Stefanos Tsitsipas

It was all fun during the debut doubles appearance of Nick Kyrgios and Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Washington Open 2019 on Monday night. The strange combination fell against the world No. 1 pair Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah 6-3, 3-6, 10-5 in the round of 16.

However, there was nothing but love in between the pair as the two gained a lot of appreciation and admirers after the match. The love affair between Nick Kyrgios and Stefanos Tsitsipas continued off the court as the two poured in admiration for each other after the match. The pair admitted that the two are different characters but spoke warmly about playing with each other.

Nick Kyrgios posted a picture of him with the Greek on the social media and wrote, “We may go about things differently but tonight was a special moment and honestly, it was awesome to share the court with you. It’s been cool to see you bloom into the player you are, and you are only at the beginning. You are going to help and influence a lot of people. See you in Cincinnati.”

While Stefanos Tsitsipas also commended the Australian and revealed that he enjoyed Kyrgios’ company. He said, “Very very fun to know you a bit more. My opinion about you is still [pause] good. I really enjoyed the company and the moments we shared.”

The off-court fun continued as Nick Kyrgios divulged Tsitsipas smells good on-court. He further continued, “He smells good as well. Every time before we’d serve I would [deep inhale]—‘not bad.’

The two suggested that they hoped to play together again, which could be possible in Beijing. However the 24-year-old was reluctant for more off-court. He said, “I’m gonna stay as far away as possible unless it’s a doubles court because I’m a bad influence.”

On the other hand, Tsitsipas feels that he is not a bad influence, rather he was inspired by Nick while playing along with him. The Greek replied to Kyrgios, “Naww, don’t say that! I didn’t even feel that…”

The 20-year-old further added, “I felt the exact opposite. I got inspired today, honestly, I won’t lie. His serve was brutal…I wish I could serve like that. It’s unbelievable to see that in a human being.”

Earlier before the match, Nick Kyrgios praised the Next-Gen star and said, “He’s one of my good friends. He’s been playing well. He is one of the best players in the world right now. He’s doing his thing at the best level. I’m pretty excited to play with him. We’re both Greek heritage.”
