Nick Kyrgios had tweeted a controversial comment on Pablo Carreno Busta in reaction to a tweet mentioning Busta’s 3rd round match in the US Open 2020. And now the tweet has been deleted.
Pablo Carreno Busta beat Ričardas Berankis 6-4 6-3 6-2 in the 3rd round to set up a clash with World No.1 Novak Djokovic. And Kyrgios reacted to a tweet by sports journalist Ben Rothenberg on Carreno Busta winning the 3rd round.

In the now deleted tweet, Kyrgios made a bold remark that if the clay court didn’t exist Carreno Busta wouldn’t have even been close to the top 50.

“If clay didn’t exist. Dude wouldn’t of even been close to top 50.” Kyrgios tweeted
Looking at the stats Carreno Busta enjoys a good clay court record. Almost half of his career victories have come on the clay court. Out of his 179 career victories, Carreno Busta has won 81 on clay. He has a quarterfinal appearance in the French Open, and over the course of his clay-court career, he has beaten the top 10 players like Milos Raonic, Grigor Dimitrov, Fabio Fognini, etc on the clay court.

Comparing his stats on clay courts and hard courts Carreno Busta has performed slightly better on the clay. Although he reached the 2017 US Open semifinal Carreno Busta has been stronger on the clay court. His gameplay suits the clay court and so overall is better on clay. But the tweet was an unnecessary dig on Carreno Busta from Kyrgios.
Kyrgios is currently not playing in the US Open due to the coronavirus. It is unsure whether we will see the Australian this season.

Anyway, Carreno Busta wouldn’t pay heed to the unnecessary comments from Kyrgios. He will be focusing on the 4th round against Djokovic. The Serbian is on a great run as he is unbeaten in 2020 and it will take a mammoth effort from the Spaniard to topple the World No.1
