World No. 2 Rafael Nadal recently defeated 20-year-old Sebastian Korda in the fourth round of the French Open 2020. The young American lost to Nadal in straight sets but won many hearts. After the match, Korda even asked Nadal to autograph his T-shirt. The Spaniard was quick to respond and did not disappoint his opponent. However, Nick Kyrgios didn’t think much of the move and he took a dig at the young American after this news broke in.

The 25-year-old Australian reacted on Twitter and blamed this attitude of Korda’s for his loss. “Probably why he got destroyed,” wrote Kyrgios on Twitter.

Kyrgios has been known to make controversial statements and tweets. Based on his tweet, he doesn’t seem to be a big supporter of this culture where one gives too much respect to their opponent. He not only stated that Korda lost but emphasized on the fact that he got destroyed due to his ‘too good’ behavior.

According to some fans, Kyrgios is not completely wrong here. He only meant that the young Korde would never be able to beat Nadal with that mindset if he keeps on idolizing him to this extent.

The other side argued that this idol culture helps youngsters feel more comfortable around their idols. They get to learn more from them. Some fans even mocked Kyrgios since he hasn’t reached the fourth round at any French Open, and felt like he was the last person who should be taking jibes at Korda.

Korda hasn’t reacted to Nick’s statement so far. Whatever the case, Nick Kyrgios is famous for his ‘to the point’ talking skills. He expresses what he feels.

Other matters aside, this was definitely a dream come true for Sebastian Korda. His inspiration Rafael Nadal will next face Jannik Sinner tomorrow at the quarter-finals of the French Open 2020.
