Nick Kyrgios Withdraws From Vienna Open 2019

World Number 28, Nick Kyrgios has withdrawn from next week’s Vienna Open 2019 in Austria due to his persisting shoulder injury. His shoulder/collar bone problems began from Laver Cup 2019. He was a first-round upset at Zhuhai Open 2019 and later called off his entire Asian Swing became a casualty at Rolex Shanghai Masters 2019.

This year, Nick Kyrgios has won two titles one of them came in Acapulco, Mexico and the other one in Washington DC, USA.

He made headlines for his meltdowns on the courts of Washington and Cincinnati and later, ATP penalized him with a hefty fine followed by a six-month prohibition period (until February) from the governing body of men’s tennis.

His unsportsmanlike conduct for breaking racquets, spitting on the court and abusing the chair umpire was termed as an “Aggravated Behavior” under the Player Major Offense provision in the ATP Code.

If Kyrgios is found to exhibit the unsportsmanlike conduct once again on the ATP courts before the month of February, he would be slapped with a fine of US$ 25,000 and a suspension of 16 ATP weeks.

At Vienna Open 2019, last year’s finalist Kei Nishikori has also been sidelined from the tournament owing to his elbow injury. The 2018 Vienna champion, Kevin Anderson called off his tennis season 2019 in the month of September.

In the Moscow River Cup 2019 tournament, the new-wave of ATP Daniil Medvedev has withdrawn from his home country tournament as he requires more time to recover from his past 11 weeks of incessant tennis. Over the past few weeks, Medvedev made it to six straight ATP finals and won three of them.

Also, he rests on the fifth position on the list of longest consecutive final streaks amongst the active players. Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic take the first position with a record of 17 consecutive finals, followed by Rafael Nadal with 9 and Andy Murray with 7.
