After the success of Formula One: Drive to Survive, season 2 shooting is already underway. Aside from the Red Bull team’s saga, Haas’ drama and the like, another popular subject was the rivalry between Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen. However, it seems that the German was not too thrilled about his portrayal on the documentary.

Recently, ahead of the Bahrain GP 2019, the Renault driver was talking to Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz Jr. Then, Nico Hulkenberg was seemingly disturbed by a Netflix documentary microphone ‘strategically’ placed above them. Having found it within arm’s reach, Nico Hulkenberg not so subtly shoved it out of the way and then mouthed a profanity.

He then flashed a cheeky grin to the nearby Netflix camera and microphone operators. It is not the first nor will it be the last time, cameras and microphones get a little too close to comfort. Nico Hulkenberg hopes that his rivalry with Daniel Ricciardo will be seen in a far friendlier light.

“It’s just the usual competition we have in Formula 1,” Hulkenberg admitted.“They probably exaggerate a bit and try to sell it more, but generally I think it was well made.”

“They’ve made it with sort of movie-like characters, and for insiders some of the scenes are a bit ‘hmm’. The reality is not quite as dramatic.”

The Netflix documentary has exposed the fact that the drivers and the team bosses are quite foul-mouthed.

The likes of Daniel Ricciardo, Nico Hulkenberg and even Haas F1 team principal, Guenther Steiner mouth obscenities. The amount of times, abusive language has been used, it enough to make a sailor blush.

Coming back to Nico Hulkenberg and Renault, they had a dismal day in the office at Bahrain. Both drivers trundled to a halt in the same section of the track, within a lap of each other.
