A P7 in Australia wasn’t that bad a start for Renault driver Nico Hulkenberg- isn’t it? But what happened immediately after that was a DNF at Bahrain’s Sakhir. One wonders, what is Hulkenberg feeling as he’s about to enter the third race of the season.

But make no mistake. Nico Hulkenberg happens to be a rather interesting F1 story.

Hulkenberg is perhaps one of F1’s biggest talents and yet, also among its unfulfilled potentials. Isn’t it? For a driver who was able to win Le Mans on his debut, it’s a bit stunning to note that the German, hasn’t yet grabbed a single podium in the highest level of Grand Prix racing.

Isn’t it?

But then, the negatives be kept aside, what’s important is to note that the German has still done well enough to command respect and where his form in the recent years serves an example, it’s not hard to note the ‘Hulk’s consistency.

Nico Hulkenberg, formerly, the go-to man at Sahara Force India (a team that’s today been rechristened and newly furbished as Racing Point) happens to be the more experienced driver at the French racing team Renault, where he’s been partnered by Daniel Ricciardo.

To that end, Nico Hulkenberg, responsible for having shaped much of what one sees about Renault on the track and in the points column, is clearly an important figure.

And recently, he opened up about his feelings and thoughts about the current F1 cars, the one being contested with, in the 2019 Formula 1 season.

So here’s what you need to know.

According to the Emmerich-am-Rhein-born racing driver, the current F1 cars are a bit too heavy. Do you agree with Hulk’s perspective?

Additionally, that’s not the only thing that Daniel Ricciardo’s teammate shared, one who’s beating the Australian comfortably as seen so far.

Nico Hulkenberg is also of the view that the current cars are easy to drive. So one wonders, what makes the German say that?

That told, there’s nothing new about knowing that the body that governs and runs the sport has brought about some key changes to the aerodynamic functioning of the sport. Right?

To that end, does it become interesting on the drivers’ side to know that the cars are feeling a bit too heavy? Well, one wonders, how could that ever be the case right?

Interestingly, none other than Kimi Raikkonen, not the most talkative person around in the sport has agreed with the new tweaks being brought to the aerodynamic regulations. These, after all, are designed to make racing more competitive and easier.

Additionally, it’s important to note that the German had his own perspective about the 2019 cars and he shared the following:

“You hardly make mistakes anymore and you can’t make the difference with courage or skills because everyone is already perfect.

“Where can you make a difference if braking distances are so short? How can you accelerate out of a corner better if everyone can get on the power so quickly?

“Also, the cars are as lazy as tanks when changing direction,” Hulkenberg said.
