American star Serena Williams has won an astounding 23 Grand Slams in her career. However, other than at the Grand Slams, her achievements at the Olympics are impressive. She has won a total of four Olympics Gold Medals, which is an amazing feat.
In a recent interview, she talked about her experience at the events.
“In the past, it has been a wonderful experience. I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future. As a tennis player, we live to play Grand Slams, anything else you don’t really think about it. So we have a tournament next week or we have another Grand Slam in a couple of months. That’s what we are remembered for, no one really remembers how many Olympic Gold Medals I may have.”

Clearly, the Olympic Games hold a very special place in Serena Williams’ heart and she loves winning the Gold Medals there. However, she failed to win one back in 2016. In the singles’ event, she lost to Elina Svitolina in the third round, and in the first round in the doubles’ event.
The American must have been determined to win something at this year’s Olympics, but sadly, those plans were ruined by the coronavirus pandemic. The Games are now going to be played in 2021 and some people feel that Serena won’t play because she will be almost 40 by then.

However, the American star hasn’t made any indication yet that she will retire anytime soon. If anything, she is probably more motivated to play considering she recently lost at the 2020 US Open. We are likely going to see her compete for quite a while yet. And hopefully, we will also see her win another Gold Medal if she plays in Tokyo next year.
