“Not a One-Slam Guy Like Me” – Andy Roddick Lauds Stan Wawrinka

Stan Wawrinka has done something very few players have- win multiple Grand Slams despite competing in the Big Three era. Not only that, he has beaten all three on the biggest stages as he made his way to three Majors. On a video chat show organized by Tennis Channel, Andy Roddick and Jim Courier discussed the Swiss man’s achievements while highlighting his 2015 French Open win.
When you discuss tennis anywhere, with anyone, the subject of the Big Three is eventually going to crop up. You might just touch upon it on your way, but it is going to happen. It’s just what Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal mean to the sport.
Even as Roddick and Courier discussed Stan Wawrinka, these three men were prominent in the conversation, and they had to be. Wawrinka has amassed three Majors, but so have a lot of other players in the history of the sport. What makes Stan stand out is the men he had to beat on his way.

Stan is no accident. He faced a Novak Djokovic who was at the peak of his powers in Paris. It was the day the Serb was finally going to confirm the growing fears of Federer and Nadal.
The Serb had a great start too, but that’s when Wawrinka loosened up and absolutely dazed Novak. That is the best I have ever seen Stan play to this day. It haunts Novak fans to this day.
