Novak Djokovic’s Coach Announces Big News For His Fans

Novak Djokovic has not played a competitive match since his victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas at the 2020 Dubai Tennis Championships final. However, the World No.1 is all set to play competitive tennis amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Djokovic’s coach Goran Ivanisevic revealed that Serb is planning to return to his hometown of Belgrade, Serbia. Subsequently, he will play some local tournaments organized by Janko Tipsarevic and the Tennis Association of Serbia.

Djokovic is currently staying in Marbella, Spain where he spent the coronavirus confinement. After two months of strict lockdown and isolation, Djokovic returned to training on Monday as the Spanish Government relaxed their lockdown rules. He now plans to return to Serbia with travel restrictions now much more relaxed as well.
“The plan is for him to return to Belgrade. Then we need to see which local tournaments will be played. Janko (Tipsarevic) is organizing something and the Tennis Association of Serbia. When we take our entire region, it is a serious tennis tournament with serious players,” Ivanisevic told SportKlub.

Earlier, Tipsarevic announced that the tournament called the “Eastern European Championship” will commence from June 15 at his academy. He also confirmed the players taking part in the event.

In the men’s section, Dušan Lajović, Damir Džumhur, Nikoloz Basilašvili, Viktor Troicki, Dimitar Kuzmanov, Laslo Đere, Miomir Kecmanović, Hamad Medjedović, and Alehandro Davidović Fokina will take part. On the other hand, Dalila Jakupović, Danka Kovinić, Patricija Marija Tig, Jasmin Paolini, Irina Kamelija Begu, and Jana Fet will star in the women’s event.
Novak started the season in the best way possible, conquering 3 titles at the ATP Cup, Australian Open and Dubai Open. He is yet to lose a match this year. We hope to see the 17-time Grand Slam champion return to competitive tennis soon.
