“Missing Me Yet?”- Sha’Carri Richardson Makes a Cryptic Statement After Jamaican Dominance in Women’s 100m Heats at Tokyo Olympics 2020
Sha’Carri Richardson was not allowed to take part in the Tokyo Olympics this year as an effect of a suspension handed to her before the Games. This did not, in any way, stop her from being part of the experience.
The 22-year-old watched the 100m women’s heats that took place earlier today and could only imagine how she would fare as part of the race. Watching the domination of Jamaican athletes Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Elaine Thompson-Herah, Richardson posted a cryptic tweet.

Richardson tested positive for Marijuana after the track trials held in Eugene Oregon. She had placed first in the women’s 100m race with a timing of 10.86 seconds. This put her in direct competition with the Price and Thompson of Jamaica and she also emerged as America’s first women’s 100m gold hope since 1996.
She was suspended for one month, missing the 100m event and later being excluded from the relay team. This ensured her absence from the Tokyo Games in its entirety. She received criticism from fans on social media after comparing her case with that of Simone Biles and pointing out the difference in reactions. Richardson has earlier explained that her consumption of Marijuana was to cope with mental health issues (in this case, the death of her biological mother).

Addressing this criticism, Richardson sent out a bold statement to all the haters on Twitter. “If you don’t like what I tweet you can definitely unfollow me. If you choose to think of all my tweets as petty and shady then you should unfollow me showing your own character but don’t use my tweets to do it. Have a day.”

Fans were particularly amused by that last statement, unsure whether she meant ‘have a nice day’, or just sarcastically ‘have a day’. This, however, did not turn attention away from the fact that Richardson still carries resentment from the way her case was handled.
Even though the entirety of Team USA- Javianne Oliver, Teahna Daniels, and Jenna Prandini qualified for the finals, the scale tips in favour of another Jamaican win. The race is really expected to be a battle between Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Elaine Thompson-Herah, both of whom are absolute phenoms in their sport.
