Tawanchai PK. Saenchai’s Vicious Knockout at ONE 158 Secures Him the ONE Featherweight Muay World Championship Opportunity

Tawanchai PK. Saenchai and Niclas Larsen fought in the main event of ONE 158 in a high-paced bout. The Thai fighter secured a ferocious knockout in the second round. Besides, he now has the opportunity to compete against ONE featherweight Muay Thai world champion in his next bout.

Larsen had a 61-12-2 kickboxing and Muay Thai record coming into the bout and was making his ONE Championship debut. Whereas, the Thai Fighter was making a move up to the featherweight division after a successful run in the bantamweight.

“Tawanchai PK.Saenchai wins a ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Title shot, finishing Niclas Larsen with a LETHAL left cross!” wrote the official Twitter handle of the promotion.

The win moves the 23-year-old Thai fighter to 127-31-2 combined kickboxing and Muay Thai record. The manner of the knockout impressed the ONE CEO and Chairman, Chatri Sityodtong, who presented him with a $50,000 bonus.

The featherweight Muay Thai world champion, Petchmorakot Petchyindee, recently got a split-decision win over Jimmy Vienot in a hard-fought battle at ONE 157. And another tough battle in Tawanchai PK. Saenchai awaits him in the future.

Round by Round Analysis of ONE 158 main event

Round 1 started with aggressive intent from ‘The Destroyer’ but the 23-year-old dropped the Denmark fighter twice, one being the knockdown. The fight was full-on action-packed from the get-go.

Both fighters let their kicks and hands fly and pushed forward with vicious strikes with fight-ending intentions. The Thai fighter’s shots appeared to have more impact, but ‘The Destroyer’ was right there for the counters. With multiple knockdowns, PK. Saenchai Muay Thai gym standout secured the round.

Round 2 saw the Denmark fighter putting the pressure as he did in the initial round, however, the Thai fighter was in no mood to let the momentum swing the other way. The ferocious left side attacks from the Thai fighter had Larsen in trouble. And a perfect left shot dropped Larsen, ending the bout.

After the contest, in the Circle interview, the Thai fighter got a double bonus as he received assurance of a world championship bout in his next outing with a well-deserved $50K bonus.
