“Pretty Boy” Kwon Won Il is fired up to maintain his charge towards the pinnacle of the bantamweight division – and nothing could be sweeter than a victory over Fabricio “Wonder Boy” Andrade, a fighter who claims to be the uncrowned king of the division. The Brazilian fired away at the #2-ranked contender ahead of their clash at ONE 158: Tawanchai vs. Larsen on Friday, 3 June, describing Kwon’s winning run as a fluke.

That did not settle well with “Pretty Boy,” who now wants to silence the brash Brazilian with a special performance inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium. 

“He really talks too much. I really hope he keeps more to himself and talks less. I think a lot of fans and critics are looking forward to this match because we are both strong strikers,” the Seoul native offered.

“Nothing else matters. I just want to land a punch on his mouth so that he can stop talking. By scoring a knockout, I think I can expect not just the usual bonus, but a triple bonus. That’s what I think.”

The South Korean knockout artist holds an 11-3 record to match his impressive 91 percent finishing rate. Better still, he has knocked out his last three opponents, including a delightful finish over former ONE Bantamweight World Champion Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon.

For his part, “Wonder Boy” has a 7-2 slate and is on a six-bout winning streak. Andrade’s striking arsenal has seen him take out the likes of Jeremy Pacatiw, Li Kai Wen, and Shoko Sato in the Circle.

As such, Kwon would not take the #4-ranked star lightly.

“I have to admit he is a tricky opponent, for sure. He’s pretty good at Muay Thai and an athlete who adopts his knees and kicks well,” he said.

“I admit, he’s a good striker, but I’m not really interested in his style or techniques because I strongly believe that I will be the winner of this match.”
