PCB Goofs up with a Mistimed Tweet after Sacking Sarfaraz Ahmed

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has apologised for their insensitive tweet on Friday, which was posted on their official account right after the announcement of wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed would no longer be the captain in Test and T20I format. The tweet featured a GIF where it was seen that batsman Fakhar Zaman dancing along with other players, while Sarfaraz Ahmed was leaving the field.

However, after the Tweet go viral, PCB posteanother tweet and apologized for the previous one.

“The PCB apologies for this post and accept the timing of it was wrong,” the PCB tweeted. “This was a pre-planned post as part of the one-year to go T20 World Cup promotional campaign. The timing of this post clashed with the captaincy announcement for which the PCB offers its regrets.”

Earlier in the day, The PCB has named Azhar Ali as the captain for Pakistan in the longer format of the game ahead of their ICC World Test Championship matches in the 2019-20 season. On the other hand, Babar Azam has been appointed as the captain of the team in the shortest format of the game until next year’s ICC T20 World Cup which will be played in Australia in 2020.

However, the vice-captain has not been decided yet as well as who will captain the side in the ODIs. It will be finalised later as Pakistan’s next assignment is scheduled to be played from July 4 to July 9 next year against the Netherlands in Amstelveen.
