The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is eager to host Australia for a three-match Test series in 2022 and they will do everything to make this happen. Australia last played a Test in Pakistan way back in 1998. After a decade, Pakistan will play two Tests against Sri Lanka at home. However, the Sri Lankan team has reached Pakistan and PCB thinks there will be no problem for Australia to travel to Pakistan for the series in future.

PCB tries to convince Cricket Australia

The CEO of the PCB, Mr. Wasim Khan, said to the reporters, “Cricket Australia has agreed in principle to play three Tests in Pakistan’s home series. Obviously, we are doing everything to ensure Australia agrees to play in Pakistan in 2022 and it is an ongoing process.”

He was also not pleased about the fact that the International Cricket Council’s Future Tour Program (ICC’s FTP) is not balanced at all across formats. He said that even though many leading nations play 8 to 14 Tests annually, Pakistan didn’t schedule even 6 to 7.

“It is unfortunate that we are among those countries who play the least number of Test matches in a season. Whereas other leading nations play 8 to 14 Tests in a year we don’t even get six to seven,” he added.

He also revealed that PCB has sent an itinerary of the ICC Championship Tests to Bangladesh Cricket Board too. The Tests will take place in January 2020.

“We have sent the itinerary and are awaiting a response. After Sri Lanka’s arrival to play the two Tests we don’t foresee any problems in the Bangladesh board agreeing to send their team in January,” he again said.

Moreover, he had gone to Australia for some reason where he was accused of having a vacation. However, he himself does not think so and refused to believe those reports.

He explained, “They are issues which can’t be discussed or finalized on phone or mails. I will let everyone know why I went to Australia soon. And I am not the most powerful person in the board it is a wrong impression. Misbah-ul-Haq also does not take decisions unilaterally as head coach and chief selector.”
