Jordan Spieth is making progress at the Valero Texas Open. The 27-year-old has been competing in Texas for the past couple of weeks and is satisfied with the improvement in his game. However, Spieth mentioned that he’s is looking to get even better, since the 2021 Masters is fast approaching.

Spieth enjoyed the peak of his carrer during 2015 when he won three out of the four major championships on the calendar. However, he’s wineless for the past three years and looks to break out of the slump with a strong performance at TPC San Antonio.

“I was out in front of the ball a little bit better, but there’s a few of them where I wasn’t. But certainly improvement on say a couple of months ago,” Spieth told reporters after Round 2 at Valero Texas Open.

“I’m really pleased with where things are at, but they’re not where I want them to be yet. I’m trying to kind of take it slowly and patiently and reward myself. Excited about the good ones and not get too down on the bad ones,” he added.

Jordan Spieth gunning for glory before 2021 Masters

Spieth suffered a setback in his career when he injured his left hand in 2018. It started his downfall in the rankings, but the former World No. 1 is keen on retaining the spot that once belonged to him.

A strong performance at the 2021 Masters would certainly be the perfect resurrection, but Jordan Spieth understands that he needs to stay consistent to attain a champion status at the Augusta National Golf Club.

“It’s kind of just stay in there stay in there and give yourself a chance to come the back nine Sunday and that’s really the best prep I could do for not only trying to win this golf tournament but also for next week,” Spieth told the reporters.
