Which Player Has the Most World Golf Championships Wins in History?

Every year, golfers compete in four major events as part of the World Golf Championships. The WGCs have been around for years but two of them were canceled in 2020 due to COVID-19 concerns. Now, while four major events warrant multiple winners, some golfers have dominated the scene. Let’s take a look at who has had the most WGC wins over the past few years.

Tiger Woods

Without a doubt, Tiger Woods is clearly dominating the WGCs with an unrivaled 18 wins. As per reports, Woods won at least one WGC-title from 1999 to 2009. His most recent win, however, comes from 2013. Not only has he won all four major events ( the youngest to do so), but he has also won two WGC events in the same year six times.

Woods has 82-PGA Tour victories and won his first Masters when he was 21. He has taken home the WGC-Bridgestone win thrice in a row two times. Additionally, he has made $25.5 million from the World Golf Championships events in career earnings. Between 1999 and 2008 – considered his prime – Woods won 15 of the 27 WGC events he participated in.

Dustin Johnson

Following Woods, Dustin Johnson ranks second with six WGC wins to his name. His first win came in 2013, while the other two were in 2017. His most recent win was in 2019. The WGC-HSBC Champions was his maiden WGC win, which came in 2013 with him scoring 24 under. Four years later, he won the WGC-Mexico Championship and WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play. His 2019 win was also his 20th career title, where he beat Rory McIlroy by five shots.

McIlroy stands third with three WGC victories. With his 2019 WGC-HSBC Champions win in China, he secured his third WGC title.

Additionally, even Phil Mickelson and Geoff Ogilvy have three wins each to their name. Ogilvy has won the match play event two times, while Mickelson won two in 2009 and on in 2018.
