“It feels like the 2019 season didn’t end yet, everything is too short. But I’m super, super happy to be here in Perth for the first time in my life. Amazing experience, one of the nicest arenas that I ever played.”

Rafael Nadal was far ahead of everyone in 2019 winning two majors and two masters 1000 crowns. In fact, the Spaniard was playing at the majority of the events held in 2019. This was in stark contrast to the previous years where he missed out a lot due to injuries.

He reached at least the semi-finals at every tournament except Acapulco and ATP.

Talking about ATP Cup 2020, Rafael Nadal led Team Spain to victory in their first tie against Team Georgia. Nadal won his bout 6-3,7-5 against a spirited Nikoloz Basilashvili. Nikoloz didn’t go down without a fight and made Rafa sweat for every point in a match then stretched on for 1 hour 50 minutes.

His compatriot Roberto Bautista Agut had a much simpler outing as he made quick work of Aleksandre Metreveli 6-0, 6-0 in a 72-minute match. Spain won the contest 3-0.
