Top seed Rafael Nadal begins his quest for a first Rolex Paris Masters title. The draw for the ATP Masters 1000 event revealed some exciting match up as players get ready to end their 2020 season on a high.

Paris Masters is the penultimate tournament in the 2020 calendar with the ATP Tour Finals finishing the season like always. The reigning champion and World No.1 Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from the tournament. So Nadal will lead the draw as the top seed. Stefanos Tsitsipas is the second seed of an ATP 1000 Masters title for the first time. The third seed being Daniil Medvedev and the fourth seed is Alexander Zverev.

Rafa Nadal could face Filip Krajinović in his second-round tie. Further, David Goffin could potentially be his quarterfinal opponent. But Alexander Zverev and Andrey Rublev are in Rafa’s half so could make a blockbuster match-up with the Spaniard in the semifinals.

For Rafa, Paris is his second home owing to his dominance at the French Open. But the other important title in Paris, the Rolex Paris Masters has always eluded him. He will now try to navigate through the draw without much fuss.

Stefanos Tsitsipas could face young tennis star, Casper Ruud in the second round. Further, he could face the likes of Felix Auger Aliassime and Matteo Berrettini in his early rounds. A potential clash with third seed Medvedev is on cards.

Tsitsipas has been begging for consistency this year. After a brilliant semifinal appearance at French Open 2020, Tsitsipas slumped to a second-round defeat in Vienna. He will need momentum from this tournament to defend his ATP Tour finals title in the coming weeks.

Rolex Paris Masters: Daniil Medvedev’s tough draw in Paris

Daniil Medvedev has Diego Schwartzman, Karen Khachanov in the company. Also, he could face 2nd seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semifinals. Medvedev could also face Kevin Anderson who defeated him recently in Vienna.

Probably Medvedev’s worst year in his career. The Russian had reached 9 finals last year and won four of them. This year he has had troubles influencing the draws of various tournaments. Rolex Paris Masters: Alexander Zverev’s path to Paris Masters Glory

Alexander Zverev finds himself on the same side of the draw as Rafa Nadal and Andrey Rublev. Further, Zverev could face Grigor Dimitrov in the quarters. And then could face in-form Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals.

Zverev has done very well in his home tournament in Cologne, Germany. Notably, he defeated Diego Schwartzman in the finals recently. On the hard courts of the Paris Masters, Zverev will have a loud shout at the title.

Other notable first-round matches include a highlight clash between Stan Wawrinka and British No.1 Dan Evans. Furthermore, Taylor Fritz could face local favorite Richard Gasquet. And recent Djokovic conqueror, Lorenzo Sonega will face Alexander Bublik in the first round.
