Rafael Nadal Returns for Second Edition of ‘Rafa and Friends’

Rafael Nadal will once again play in the ‘Rafa and Friends’ charity event on March 10. The second year of the Eisenhower Cup will take place before the Indian Wells Masters in March. All proceeds generated from the event will go to local charities.
Rafa and friends is a one night event, wherein the players involved compete in Tie Break Tens. Eight players will compete in the event, with a total of seven rounds. Each round will be an elimination. They will play a tie break of ten points in each round.

The Eisenhower Cup is a winner-takes-all event, wherein, the winner will take a $150,000 prize money home.

The Indian Wells defending champion and three time Major runner-up Dominic Thiem will join Rafael Nadal at the event. Joining the duo are 2019 US Open runner-up Daniil Medvedev, World No. 8 Matteo Berrettini, three time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka and American Taylor Fritz. the defending champion of the Eisenhower Cup, Milos Raonic will also play again this year.

The Tie Break Tens event will also work as welcome event for the Indian Wells Masters tournament which will start on March 12. Former World No. 2 Tommy Haas is the current Tournament Director at the Indian Wells. He expressed his delight by hailing Nadal and the other players taking part in the event.

All the tickets for the event are priced at $25. All the money will go to local charities like Eisenhower Health, Masimo’s Patient Safety Movement and many others.
Nadal is no stranger to charitable events like ‘Rafa and friends’ is he now. Just this month he took part in the ‘Match in Africa’ event for the Roger Federer Foundation, raising a brilliant $3 million. With the Spaniard on board, the Eisenhower Cup will no doubt be a big hit as well, just as it was last year.
