Rafael Nadal To Meet David Ferrer in Barcelona Open 2019

With the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters 2019 ready with its semifinal lineup with just one tennis player ranked inside the top-ten rankings of the ATP list, the next event on the men’s tour, the Barcelona Open 2019 has released the order of play in the Spanish ATP 500 event.

The 11-time Barcelona Open champion, Rafael Nadal will be facing his compatriot and friend, David Ferrer in the third round of the Barcelona Open 2019. Ferrer will play the second last home-country tournament in Barcelona. He will be setting aside his racquets at the Madrid Masters this year.

Post Nadal’s encounter with Ferrer, he may take on the Frenchman, Lukas Pouille in the pre-quarters and then set up the quarterfinals against the Greek God of tennis, Stefanos Tsitsipas which will be a repetition of last year’s final match. And for that to happen, Tsitsipas has to overcome David Goffin in the round of 16.

Later, Nadal might face the French Open 2018 finalist, Dominic Thiem in the semifinals and then, Nadal might set up a championship match against the Japanese, Kei Nishikori or the World Number three, Alexander Zverev.

The NextGen clay-courter, Dominic Thiem is drawn to face the Paris Masters champion, Karen Khachanov in the quarterfinals. Before that, Thiem needs to surpass the American, Frances Tiafoe in the round of 16 of Barcelona Open 2019. After his despairing defeat at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters 2019, Thiem is expected to balance out for his loss on Barcelona’s dirt.

The Italian semifinalist at the Monaco Masters, Fabio Fognini has certainly stolen the show in the Mediterranean region. Fognini is prophesied to take on the two-time Barcelona Open champion, Kei Nishikori in the last eight round of the Spanish loam event. Nishikori may play the Canadian rising star, Felix Auger-Aliassime in the pre-quarters of the Barcelona Open 2019.
