The 2019 French Open Champion, Rafael Nadal will enter the Wimbledon Championships 2019 as the no. 3 seed with arch-rival, Roger Federer seeded above him.

Rafael Nadal was not pleased by the seedings process at the Wimbledon Championships as he suggests that the seeding procedure at the Wimbledon is different from that of the other events.

In an interview with Movistar, Rafael Nadal expressed his disappointment with the seeding policy at the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC). The Spaniard was not surprised after he was seeded no. 3 at the Wimbledon Championships 2019. He said, “It’s the usual thing.”

The 18-time grand slam champion further criticized the Championships as he continued, “Wimbledon is the only tournament of the year where they do whatever they want in that sense.”

Rafael Nadal, however, did not stress too much about the seeding as he feels that he has to be at his best to win matches at the AELTC. He said, “Whatever it is, whether I’m two or three, I’ll have to be at my best and will fight to win the games I’m involved in.”

Rafael Nadal is currently leading the ATP Race to London standings with 5505 points in the 2019 season. While Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer are lagging behind him on the 2nd and 3rd position with 4725 and 3860 points respectively. The Spaniard certainly has been the better player in this season. However, he suggested that Wimbledon does not care about how the players performed during the season while making the seedings.

Rafael Nadal further added, “The only thing that doesn’t seem right is that it’s only Wimbledon that does this. It’s not just for me, it’s for other players too. They don’t respect the status that players have earned throughout the season.”

Rafael Nadal suspects Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic to win the title at the Wimbledon Championships 2019. “The candidates to win I suppose are Federer, Djokovic, and there are young players who are playing well, we’ll have to see how they compete,” he explained.
