With Paul Heyman relieved of his duties as the Executive Director of RAW, Vince McMahon is looking to make major changes. Therefore, the future of the WWE looks to be in flux.

New reports suggest that Vince made a change to the matchup between Asuka and Nia Jax.

Asuka defended her RAW Women’s Championship against Nia Jax last night on Backlash. The match ended with a double count-out. This left many confused. For a Pay-Per-View to end in a count-out is rather unusual.

Vince McMahon with a last-minute change

Earlier Wrestling Observer had reported that Asuka will be feuding with NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair next. Asuka was supposed to walk out of Backlash as a strong champion.

She was set for a pinfall victory over Jax. However, Vince reportedly changed the ending. The change was made just a few hours before the show.

“The impression that I’ve been given…I believe that the original finish was Asuka was gonna pin Nia and for whatever reason, they decided I guess on the day of the show to do a double count-out instead,” Bryan Alvarez from Wrestling Observer said.

No further details were given for the sudden change. Vince McMahon is looking for ways to skyrocket WWE’s views and ratings. This, however, is a shocker.

Why would the Chairman make such a move consciously knowing that it would be upsetting to fans?

Perhaps, the Chairman wants them to continue their feud further. That would mean the potential match with Charlotte Flair and Asuka will be put on hold. At Least for now.

Asuka as the champion

Asuka became the RAW Women’s Champion after Beck Lynch departed from the company. Only the previous night she had won the Money in the Bank Ladder match. She was handed the title by Lynch herself.

Asuka was in her first PPV after becoming the Champion and the match ending was upsetting. WWE’s plans might work for her, but the company could be looking to make Flair the champion again.

Nothing can be assured at the moment, but hopefully, Asuka has a great reign ahead.
