He said despite the disappointments and setbacks, it was important to keep a positive outlook for the new year.

“So, I think, it’s really important to be positive but really help one another out. If now we can pick up our family members, our friends, and help them through these difficult times……and that’s going to be essential,” Federer said.

“I believe in the power of people……people always persevere and find new ways.

On what’s important for him right now, Federer said it was to make a strong comeback post surgery.

“Right now, I’d like to come back to a 100% with my knee, with my body……getting in shape and then be on the tennis court. I don’t know, enjoy the crowd, win big matches again,” Federer said.

Though out of rehabilitation post surgery, Federer hasn’t yet announced his availability for the Australian Open next year.
