Roger Federer: “I Am Going To Play Freely At French Open 2019”

World No. 3, Roger Federer will be featuring at the French Open 2019 after missing the tournament for four years due to his prolonging career. However, the Swiss Maestro does not want to take any pressure as he makes a comeback at the Roland Garros.

Roger Federer said on returning to the Roland Garros. He said, “I am going to play freely and it’s a pleasure. As long as I’m not hurt, it’s worth it to play the clay.”

Roger Federer decided to skip the French Open in the last three editions because of his prolonging tour but the 37-year-old returns because of his desire to play on clay. He said, “I simply just wanted to play. I hadn’t planned not to play for three years. For the previous six months, my body has been good. For the rest of the season, it’s may be good to play, but mostly it’s the desire to return to clay and this tournament.”

Roger Federer is entering the tournament without any expectations. The 20-time grand slam champion said, “I know that on clay also everything is possible, but I think I have more opponents on clay. It’s good to come here with fewer expectations. I will really try to approach this Roland Garros with less pressure. It’s good that people, the media, myself also, my team knows it.”

However, he retired before a quarterfinals match against Stefanos Tsitsipas. He will face the Italian Lorenzo Sonego in the first round of the French Open 2019.
