Roger Federer Pays Tribute to NHL Legend After He Bids Farewell to New York Rangers

New York Rangers, a professional Ice Hockey team, recently bought out the final year of the great goalie and NHL (National Hockey League) legend, Henrik Lundqvist’s contract. The Swedish legendary goaltender will thus end a 15-year long career with the team. Henrik received world-wide fame for his brilliant career with the Rangers. One of the biggest names on this list was his good friend and tennis legend Roger Federer.

Henrik is now an unrestricted free agent after the termination of his contract with the New York Rangers. The 38-year-old led the Swedish men’s national team to their second Olympic Gold medal during the 2006 Winter Olympics. With the New York Rangers, he made some terrific and impossible looking saves in the NHL, earning the title of ‘King Henrik’.

“I’ve talked to Roger a lot about his training and his approach. He’s a champion, the best ever, so of course, I’m interested in learning and taking what I can from him,” said Henrik in 2017.
After the end of his contract, the Swedish goalie thanked the Rangers and the fans. He has not just been the face of the franchise but a key member of the squad. Leaving after 15 years will certainly not be easy for him.

The legendary player enjoys a record of 459-310-96 with a save percentage of 0.918. It will be difficult for the Rangers to find a suitable replacement for the Swedish as players like King Henrik are born once in a generation.
