Roger Federer – “Stan Wawrinka is a Legend”

The Swiss legend, Roger Federer played some ‘celestial tennis’ in Basel on Wednesday against Radu Albot and now he awaits his quarterfinal opponent at Swiss Indoor Basel 2019. Federer is expecting Stan Wawrinka in the last eight-round of the Swiss tournament.

His illustrious compatriot, Wawrinka has to clear one more match in Basel to set up a Friday night showdown against the ultimate paragon of grace, Roger Federer. Wawrinka needs to defeat Frances Tiafoe from the US to put on the ‘Battle of the Helventians’ on the bank of Rhine River. `

“Looking forward to a Swiss duell on Friday, happy that Stan is fighting back from injury, he has a fabulous career behind him already, he’s a legend, would love to play him although, of course, it’s never easy,” Roger Federer said. They previously played an exhilarating match at Roland Garros 2019 quarterfinals.

Wawrinka has had a tough season so far. He has been tackling with injuries throughout, but nevertheless, Wawrinka once again moved into the top 20 ATP Rankings and continues to thrive on the men’s tennis circuit by reaching the finals in Antwerp, Belgium. He played a see-sawing match against the former World Number one, Andy Murray.

In Basel, World Number three, Roger Federer produced some effortless moves on the Swiss court during the round-of-16 encounter and his style of tennis was simply fluid when he defeated the Moldovan, Albot 6-0, 6-3 on Wednesday.

The Infosys ATP Beyond The Numbers analysis accumulated data for the players winning three points in a row (40/0). In that category, Roger Federer has reached the 40/0 score 268 times out of 707 service games played and that is the highest.

Followed by, Novak Djokovic who won three points in a row 256 times out of 707 service games. The Spaniard, Rafael Nadal has won 225 times out of 664 total service games played.
