2016 F1 champion Nico Rosberg is of the pinion that the engine is the factor that is making the difference at Ferrari this year.

The former F1 driver thinks that Lewis Hamilton is having a tough time handling Sebastian Vettel’s charge due to horse power.

“I know from an insider source why Ferrari is so strong. They have found more power from their engine. The turbo has been upgraded and more recharging is happening for additional power.

It’s a small advantage at this time but Ferrari has done a good job,” said Rosberg.

Meanwhile, Rosberg was rather surprised by Hamilton’s sudden interest in football.

At Silverstone, Hamilton confessed that he wanted to skip Saturday’s press conference. This was because he wanted to watch England play in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The 4-time World Champion is also keeping July 15 free in his diary so he can travel to Russia for the final. However, Rosberg isn’t convinced by Lewis’ enthusiasm for the sport.

“Lewis is not really a football fan. It’s all a bit of a show. That’s part of his image,” Rosberg continued.

However, the German truly believes that Hamilton will eventually win in 2018. This will be inspite of the engine deficit to their Italian rivals.

“I keep thinking that Lewis will get the title. Mercedes is incredibly strong as a team,” he concluded.

Also, in light of the recent shenanigans in Silverstone, inevitably, Rosberg too was asked his opinion on the Raikkonen-Hamilton collision. Initially, he felt that Raikkonen was the guilty party. But, on his Youtube channel, he dismissed any notions that the collision was intentional, unlike a certain Haas junior.

“The answer is pretty simple, the answer is 100 per cent not on purpose,” he said.

“We also saw in Austria, Kimi is not driving for Sebastian.

“In Austria, Kimi was second and Sebastian third and there was no letting Sebastian past at all – he didn’t consider that – so Kimi’s driving for his own thing.

“He was out there and just completely messed it up, braked way too late and just locked up and just torpedoed into Lewis.

“It was unusual for Kimi because usually those kind of things don’t happen to him, so it was a bit strange but definitely not on purpose.”
