During the free-practice session of the Russian Grand Prix, there was a massive scare for Lewis Hamilton. While he was heading through the long Turn 3, he was passing a couple of cars, until he reached Red Bull of Alex Albon.

Albon was a little wide and was was heading back to the apex, unaware of an approaching Hamilton. The good news was that Lewis Hamilton managed to jink away and avoid a collision.

It was also note-worthy that the Albon incident was not the only one that Hamilton barely avoided. Apparently, in FP1, Lewis Hamilton was heading into the pits, when Romain Grosjean in front of him slowed suddenly.

To avoid ploughing into the back of the Frenchman, Hamilton jerked his steering wheel to the right and into some free space. With two heart-attacks in one day, Hamilton was thanking his lucky stars for getting out in one piece.

The defending champion went on to finish 5th in FP1 and 4th in FP2, while Charles LeClerc and Max Verstappen topped the respective sessions. Rounding out the top 5 in FP1 was Verstappen, Sebastian Vettel and Valtteri Bottas ahead of Hamilton. In the other session, LeClerc and Bottas separated Hamilton from Verstappen, with Vettel behind the Briton. Meanwhile, Albon was 6th and 10th respectively.
