Speaking to the press after the match which saw Liverpool beat Brighton and Hove Albion 4-0 and ensured they would finish 4th in the League, an overjoyed Salah said,” This one is very special, very special. But as I said beforehand, it was always on my mind, but it is more important to help the team win games. We are in the Champions League next year, I won the award, so I’m very proud.”

The former Chelsea forward scored the opener in the win, which was his 44th goal in the campaign and his 32nd in the Premier League. In doing so, he ousted the record of 31 goals which was held by Alan Shearer, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Luis Suarez ever since the Premier League turned into a 38-game-a-season affair.

Elaborating further, the 25-year-old said,”To be honest, it was always in my mind to succeed in England, to give it 100% and to be a success here at Liverpool. I’ve had a great season. It’s always about your teammates, but I’m always trying to improve so I’m very happy to do this year after year.”

He also admitted, “To do it in front of the Kop is very special. It’s perfect.”

The Premier League may be over but Liverpool’s season certainly isn’t. They will be facing the mighty Real Madrid on the 26th of May at the Champions League final in Kyiv and Salah and his teammates will have to be at the top of their game if they are to guide the club to a historic 6th European Cup title.
