India will face arch-rivals Pakistan in the most awaited match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 on 16th June on Sunday in Manchester. Indian tennis star, Sania Mirza, slammed the ad makers of both the nation for making ‘cringeworthy’ advertisements for the match.

The high-voltage match between the two teams was in doubts a few months ago due to cross border tensions between the two countries. Though the relations between the two nations are still unpleasant, the match between India and Pakistan looks to get a green signal.

However, before the match, the advertisement for the clash have certainly taken the center stage as Star India trolled Pakistan in a revised version of ‘Mauka Mauka’ where it is shown that the match between India and Pakistan is scheduled on fathers day, depicting India as the father of Pakistan.

While Pakistani broadcaster mocked the Indian Airforce Pilot, Abhinandan Varthaman who was in Pakistan’s custody during the air attacks on the border of the two countries following the Pulwama attack. It is shown that Abhinandan has a cup of tea in his hand when he was set to leave for India. However, he is stopped and asked where are you going with the cup, the cup is ours.

Here the cup of tea is the metaphor of the World Cup. The ad didn’t go down well with the audience as it faced huge criticism for taking a dig at the Wing-Commander personally.

Sania Mirza also didn’t like the two advertisements as she criticized the ad makers on Twitter. “Cringeworthy ads on both sides of the border seriously guys, you don’t need to ‘hype up’ or market the match anymore specially with rubbish! it has ENOUGH attention already! It’s only cricket for God sake, and if you think it’s any more than that then get a grip or get a life !!” Sania Mirza wrote on Twitter.
