Instead of seven smaller vents like in Australia, the SF90 sports six larger vents. Sebastian Vettel’s own recovery drive after spinning, also went to waste. The German had just been overtaken by Lewis Hamilton and was attempting to get the place back. Then, as Sebastian Vettel struggled to recover, one of the Racing Point cars, took advantage and tried to unlap itself. Sadly, the two collided, breaking Vettel’s front wing and left it dangling by a thread. Finally, as he limped back to the pits, the wing gave way in a huge shower of sparks, right in front of a startled George Russell. Interestingly, according to latest reports, this story has turned out to be an April Fool’s joke. And you just got pranked. The Bahrain Grand Prix has become synonymous with F1 fans over the years as one of the opening rounds of the Championship season. Starting off as a day race back in 2004, the Sakhir International Circuit embraced nightfall in its 10th Anniversary race and has remained a night race ever since.

F1 raced on the Bahrain track's "outer layout", consisting of a fairly simple layout and long straights. Many fans and drivers dubbed the outer track an "oval", given the nature of its configuration. With minimal corners, there was plenty of overtaking opportunities in round 2 of the Bahrain race.

Michael Schumacher won the inaugural Bahrain Grand Prix in 2004, accompanied by Rubens Barrichello and Jenson Button on the podium.

In 2011, F1 canceled the Bahrain event amidst the Bahraini uprising. Despite much opposition, F1 decided to hold a race at the Sakhir International Circuit the following year.

Ever since first experimenting with a night race in Bahrain in 2014, F1 has made the change stick for subsequent events. Bahrain arguably provides the best F1 spectacle amidst the desert under the lights.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Bahrain replaced the Australian GP as the season opener for the 2021 season. Lewis Hamilton won the first race of the 2021 season ahead of Max Verstappen and Valtteri Bottas.

Hamilton and Mercedes are the defending Champions with the pair's dominance unlikely to end anytime soon.

For a long time, Bernie Ecclestone was the F1 supremo, having founded the Formula One Group. He?spent 40 years as chief executive of the company after gaining control of the commercial rights.

But in 2017, he stepped down and ownership was handed to Liberty Media who have been taking care of F1 since then. To herald their control, they even changed the F1 logo.

Chase Carey was the first F1 CEO in the 'liberty era' of F1 and will be stepping down at the end of the year. Former Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali will succeed the American in 2021.
