Sebastian Vettel Trolls ‘Torpedo’ Daniil Kvyat at the Russian Grand Prix 2019

Sebastian Vettel had a rough day in the office at the Russian Grand Prix 2019. In spite of a rocket start to take the lead, his car sputtered to a halt midway through the race. However, despite the agony of defeat, he still found some humour during an interview.

Speaking to Ziggo Sport, the interviewer mentioned that Vettel had a torpedo start in Sochi. Vettel sported a cheeky grin and told the interviewer not to mention ‘torpedo’ in Russia. He said that he ‘had bad memories of Kvyat crashing into him’.

On a more serious note, he was pleased with the start, which was a ‘tiny bit better than Charles, but much better than Lewis‘. According to the German, the aim was to get ahead of him as soon as possible.

Then, some more touchy subjects were mentioned, namely the supposed swap that should have taken place. Sebastian Vettel seemingly dodged the bullet by affirming that the situation need to be discussed between them. However, he did say that it would be behind closed doors to be solved internally.

Then, Sebastian Vettel was asked about the crushing blow of retiring midway through the race. He admitted that he had no power in the battery, so he was down on power and the team told him to stop the car. So, he went and parked in a place where he figured, would not invoke the Safety Car.

Unfortunately for him, there was the Virtual Safety Car deployed, so he was slightly disappointed. However, his hands were tied and there was little that he could do in his dying car.

He commiserated with the team as they ended up with one car behind both Mercedes, instead of two cars ahead of the Silver Arrows. All that Ferrari, Sebastian Vettel and Charles LeClerc can do is look ahead to the Japanese Grand Prix on the 13th of October.
