Same track, same old story. McLaren continued its poor run in the testing sessions by ending their day today with just seven laps under their belt owing to a hydraulics fault which meant they had to change the power unit. After facing various issues in Jerez and the first Barcelona Test last week, the team, which was once the most hotly anticipated for the 2015 season, is sceptical whether they’ll be able to make sure that the two cars complete the first race in Melbourne.

Felipe Massa finished the day on top with a 1.23.500 in his Williams set on softs as he managed to complete a solid 103 laps today.

Marcus Ericsson was the leader in the lap count with 122 laps and the second best time set on the super softs as Sauber made the best possible use for limited running in the previous Barcelona Test.

Lewis Hamilton came third in the time charts, with a time that was set on medium tyres. Mercedes had a relatively tough day today as they couldn’t get their car out for a spin after lunch owing to a faulty MGU-K which meant that their entire day lap count was stuck at 48 laps, all of which were set before lunch.

Daniil Kvyat was fourth fastest in the time charts and managed 75 laps today. He caused the first red flag of the day after he stopped at the pit exit in the morning. Romain Grosjean was fifth and Kimi Raikkonen sixth on the time charts completing 75 and 80 laps respectively, having a trouble free day.

Carlos Sainz Jr was seventh fastest completing 86 laps. He also caused a red flag after he stopped at turn 10 in the afternoon session. Meanwhile, Force India decided not to run today and decided to debut the 2015 contender, the VJM08 tomorrow.
