With three weeks to go for the Australian Open 2021, players are beginning their preparations inside the bubbles. In a pre-isolated centre in Adelaide, sisters Venus Williams and Serena Williams completed their first training session of 2021.

Previously, the Adelaide bubble in Australia planned to host the top 3 men and women in tennis, along with Serena. However, an update later allowed the players’ hitting partners to join them. And that is how tennis champions Venus and Serena got an opportunity to train together again.

The sisters used a white minivan from their hotel to come straight to the training centre. Even Patrick Mouratoglou, coach of Serena, accompanied them there. They were seen wearing their training outfits as well as the precautionary mask in the pictures before going inside.

According to the 7-time Grand Slam winner, she and Serena had stopped training together a long time ago. But given the protocols around the pandemic outbreak, it made perfect sense for them to join forces again.

During the two-weeks of quarantine, a player and their hitting partner will be given five hours every day for training. Unfortunately, because of a positive case on their flight to Australia, some players have been denied this benefit.

Since there are tournaments that are commencing ahead of the Australian Open, the players’ who have been denied training time will take a serious hit. Hence, this is a major problem standing in front of the ‘Happy Slam’.

On the contrary, for the 23-time Grand Slam winner and her older sister, the conditions couldn’t be better. Training with Venus will indefinitely help Serena to make a valuable contribution at the Slam.
