Sergio Perez warns Force India to lift team orders in 2018

After the two Force Indias battled each other in Canada, Force India for the first time was faced with a challenge to implement team orders. Following the Baku altercation, it was still decided not to implement it. But finally, when the duo banged each other again in Spa,
Force India said enough is enough and they put in a team order in place. How effective those orders were is something the team only knows. The orders weren’t lifted despite the team securing 4th in the standings with 2 races to spare. And now Sergio Perez has warned his team that they need to lift them up for next year.

Stating that McLaren with the Renault engine and the Renault works team itself are expected to make a leap up the order for next year. Sergio Perez is of the opinion that if the team wants to retain its standing next year, then they need to let him and Ocon race. He said that in order to fend off against their rivals, the drivers should be free to push each other. He said that it’s going to be a difficult year for Force India next year.

Sergio Perez also said that the team needs to build a fast a reliable car for next year. Basically, he wants a car that’s working right out of the box. He has urged his team to be competitive right from the beginning of the season.

Sergio Perez also said that he and Ocon have a much better relationship now. Agreeing to have reached a low point with the Frenchman at Spa, he said they have turned it around. Citing that both are professional drivers and therefore have sorted their differences out.

Perez also praised Ocon for doing a stellar job in his first year with the team. He said that the Frenchman’s single seater experience allowed him to be well prepared.
