Every tennis player has some great qualities. But seldom does any one of them have all the skills packed together. While some athletes may be superior in terms of a specific skillset, others may be good at other aspects. What if you could pick the best qualities, from the very best in the business, and mould them into one? Well, the Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard recently gave her thoughts on the same. She chose seven players and their different abilities, which together could help build a supreme tennis player.
Among the skills, she chose players for, were serving abilities, forehand, fitness, athleticism, backhand, tennis IQ, and the will to win.

Eugenie Bouchard picks the best abilities of the top players
While speaking to Tennis Channel International, the 26-year old Canadian selected Petra Kvitova for her serving skills and Serena Williams for her forehand and overall athleticism. Bouchard also chose herself in the backhand category.
“Backhand can I take my own backhand? I love my own backhand. I try to be really aggressive with it and I feel like I can place it well cross-court down the line and mix it up so you know it’s an important weapon for me to have.

“If I had to pick a WTA player’s serve I would pick Petra Kvitova. She’s a lefty so that already is it’s a different kind of spin than we normally see because there are more righties on tour. This is so powerful and accurate. I hate playing against her with her serve. Forehand I think I would go with Serena’s forehand I think she can just do so much with it so much variety and that’s why it’s so Lethal.”
“The first time I played her was in Cincinnati like years ago and you know she can hit it super hard but she can also like to mix it up a lot and I didn’t expect that so that’s what really like made an impact on me about how good it was.”
Genie seems to be fascinated with Serena as she picked the 23-time Grand Slam singles winner in yet another category.
“Athleticism I’ll go Serena again just because you know she’s so strong physically and can kind of dominate the game with that like physical presence so um she must be the best in the world at that I think.”
Eugenie Bouchard chooses the fittest, smartest and the most will-driven players
She also picked Simona Halep for her fitness levels, Sofia Kenin for her tennis intelligence, and Alison Riske for her will to win at all costs.
“Tennis IQ you know I think the Australian Open winner from this year Sophia Kenin. I think she’s a great tennis IQ. She’s super smart on the court and can figure things out that make Kenin so good. I mean she knows exactly what’s happening here. seven matches at a slam is you can’t just, you know, do that by luck or just getting by. so I think she was able to kind of just problem solve throughout her matches she had some tough matches, I think that helped her win.”

“Fitness, I would have to go with Halep. She’s obviously super strong and can outlast you know any of her opponents. Obviously winning the French Open is proof of that as well.
“Will to win Alison Riske definitely has an unbelievable will to win. I’ve played her many times and we’ve had really tough battles and fights. and I’ve seen her play as well and she just never gives up no matter what. I think she sometimes has a lot of matches that are three-setters and you can always count on her to fight till the very end.”

Genie’s search for improvement
Eugene Bouchard is already a tennis sensation in Canada. Back in 2014, she became the first player from her country to reach the finals of the Wimbledon, where she ultimately lost to Petra Kvitova. Once a world number 5 ranked player, Bouchard currently stands at World No. 332. She would definitely want to improve her rankings. Who knows, maybe this GOAT list can help her in the future.
