Simona Halep added the second major title in her trophy cabinet after winning the Wimbledon Championships 2019 title, defeating the 23-time grand slam champion, Serena Williams in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 in the finals. The Romanian star revealed that the only thing missing from her collection is an Olympic medal.

Simona Halep became the first Romanian to win the Wimbledon Championships title. The 27-year-old has also won the French Open title in 2018. While other players would be eyeing for a career grand slam at this point, Simona Halep aims to win an Olympic medal for her country.

Romania was defeated by France in the Fed Cup 2019 semi-finals. Halep expressed her dismay and said, “The disappointment from this year really hurt me, so to play well to get a medal, it would be a dream.”

Simona Halep climbed up the ranking to the no.4 spot in the Women’s Tennis Association leaderboards after the Wimbledon Championships 2019 and the former world no.1 can regain the no. 1 spot.
